LA VOZ - DEMO 2009
Well, look what I found here! It's the La Voz demo CD I got back a few years ago (2009?). I originally got this demo to review for Fronteras Desarmadas (I don't remember which issue I actually did it for, unfortunately). To me, this demo sounds like a mixture of GRB and Los Crudos, which is of course awesome! Fast aggressive hardcore that immediately grabs your attention and never lets go. If you liked the 7 inch they released with Lengua Armada, then you should definitely download this one. Enjoy!

SUICIDE MONDAYS - THE PLASMATICS (NEW HOPE FOR THE WRETCHED)
The Plasmatics... What more can be said about this band that hasn't been said before? I first heard The Plasmatics on TV during some VH1 show when I was about 11. I was blown away by this crazy (albeit hot!) looking girl blowing up cars and ripping shit up! This band had a tendency to shock and awe in all their live shows, with Wendy playing half the time almost completely naked. Anyways, this is some fast and furious Rock N' Roll, and Wendy O's gruff vocals perfectly compliment the music. New Hope for the Wretched was released in 1980 and Wendy O' Williams (sadly) committed suicide by shooting herself in the woods near her home in 1998.
"The act of taking my own life is not something I am doing without a lot of thought. I don't believe that people should take their own lives without deep and thoughtful reflection over a considerable period of time. I do believe strongly, however, that the right to do so is one of the most fundamental rights that anyone in a free society should have. For me, much of the world makes no sense, but my feelings about what I am doing ring loud and clear to an inner ear and a place where there is no self, only calm." - Wendy O Williams

DFMK - MANUAL PRACTICO PARA LA AUTODESTRUCCION
Todays post comes from our friends DFMK from Tijuana, Mexico. I was totally not expecting this at all! Straight up punk rock, somewhat like Poliskitzo, but harder. I want to think that some of the songs remind of "Insomnio" from Spain, but at the same time they have a sound all their own. In any case, this is a pretty cool little demo that took me completely by surprise. Download it, listen to it, enjoy it! If you want to hear more from these guys, you can check them out here: www.myspace.com/dfmk

SUICIDE MONDAYS - REAGAN YOUTH (A COLLECTION OF POP CLASSICS)
What more can be said about Reagan Youth that hasn't already been said? They are easily one of my all time favorite US hardcore bands. Melodic, powerful, and catchy with lyrics that will make you think. They don't make em like this anymore... Anyways, Reagan Youth started in 1980 in New York while the members were still in their early teens. Their first ep "Youth Anthems for the New Order" was released a few years later in 1984. There's really two eras to this band, and while some may look both, I prefer them in their early punk era. Their second era saw the band go in a more metal/hard rock approach, and while it's OK, it's just not as good as their first era. By the early 90's the band had already split. By this time, Dave Insurgent (the band's lead vocalist) had become a heavy heroin user. He also began dating a prostitute, who was also a heavy heroin user. She was murdered by the notorious serial killer, Joel Rifkin, who murdered several other prostitutes as well. During this time, Dave's mother was also killed when his father accidently ran over her in a parking lot. With all the tragedies surrounding him, he committed suicide by purposely overdosing on anti-depressants in 1993.
