OLD SCHOOL TUESDAY - THE VOMITS DEMO (2001)

Wow! It's been 10 years already since I first heard this CD! My how the time flies... Anyways, back when I was a young lad, this was my favorite band to go see at backyards. One of the main reasons for that is because it was one of the first punk bands I ever actually saw at a local back yard. Their live shows were intense at the time, with all the songs being played full throttle and at break neck speed (even more impressive as their drummer is like 3 feet tall... No joke!). Their songs have hints of metal and are definitely more akin to street punk along the lines of The Casualties, but at the time, they were just amazing to me. This demo will always have a place in my heart, as it's pretty much the start of my dive into punk. Enjoy!

LIBERATE - 06 DEMO CD-R

(My scanner is out of order at the moment. Once it's back up, I'll upload the actual cover of the CD)

Today, I managed to find a cool little demo from 2006 in my roommates music box. It was none other than LA's own Liberate. These guys play some seriously fast and thrashy hardcore, along the lines of Los Crudos and Charles Bronson (that's a pretty accurate description actually). I seen them a play a couple of shows back in the day, particularly with bands like Hit Me Back and Venganza, and they always ripped it up. I don't know too much more about this band, but I do know they also released a 7 inch. You can check out that record here.

Here's the link for this demo:

OLD SCHOOL TUESDAY - DEFIED/VIOLENT THREATS SPLIT

So, I've finally decided to retire Suicide Mondays. I've run dry of ideas for that segment and to be honest, also out of artist. So in it's a place, I bring you Old School Tuesdays. Old School Tuesdays is gonna be where I showcase local bands from the LA scene from back when I was in High school. In High School things were much more different in the punk scene than they are now. Back then, shows would get packed with tons of kids from all over LA. Do you know how crazy these shows would get, with 150 + drunken 15 year old punks? Anyways, to give you an idea, just imagine them pitting to this split.

(The first 5 tracks are the Violent Threats. Tracks 6-10 are Defied)

SUICIDE MONDAYS - JOY DIVISION

It's been about 2 weeks since I've posted anything on the blog. I've been super busy with work, the band, and daily life in general. Anyways, this might look like cheating since I've already posted up Warsaw (and that's technically the same band), but Joy Division is just too good to skip! Their "ideal for living" ep was their debut ep, and it has a considerably more punk sound than their later stuff that they are more known for. You might actually recognize these songs from the Warsaw album I've already uploaded, but these have a more tight sound. I've also included their debut lp "Unknown Pleasures" and the single "Love will tear us Apart" (which was released after Ian Curtis hung himself). All great stuff and definitely fun to listen to. Enjoy!
